Coomalie Club

Coomalie Polocrosse Club is a new club formed this year 2008. The club was formed for rural district player’s who live down the track. We have members and players as far as Tenant Creek who travel up once a month to compete. Our club members are also spread over other parts of the Northern Territory like Katherine, Elsey Station, Adelaide River, Litchfield Station, Mataranka, Acacia Hills, Howard Springs. Our clubs home grounds are based at Adelaide River Show Society, who the A.R.S.S Club supports in every way. We will hold our first carnival at the Adelaide River Show, as a day/night carnival. Our finals will be held under light, kicking off at 7pm. The lights where sponsored by Coats Hire who is one of our clubs major sponsors.

Coomalie holds one of the biggest numbers for Junior’s up in the NT who are growing from strength to strength. We believe Junior’s are the future of polocrosse and they come first in our club. We have 9 Junior’s in our club who most of them are very talented and can play extremely well for their age and it help’s having a good coach behind the kids, which is Brendan Beck who has put a lot of time in to the build up of the season training for our Juniors. Most of our Juniors haven’t played more than four years of polocrosse. Most of them have only started either last year or this year.

Young Ben Witham from Mt Bundy Station who has only started polocrosse this year has picked the game up already and ball skills, Ben will be one to watch at the end of the year as he improves through out the year. The Blewit brothers from Acacia Hills are a Strong combination with no fear and love for the rush of the game. The Blewit brothers started playing last year, as they use to ride motorbikes and compete at state level, but got hooked on polocrosse and have never looked back now as the two brothers will be a deadly combination as they keep growing from strength to strength through out the season. Caleb White has only just received his new horse and is stepping up to the game very nicely. Caleb is a very quiet player who has a lot of guts. He is one to watch as he’s a quiet achiever. However Braydon Beck is a very strong little man for his age that never gives up and plays a hard game as a number 3. Jack Cooper is a smooth flowing young man with great ball skills for a number 1, who knows how to put a ball between the goals post and a hardy player at any position. Ian Rixon is a young man with quick reflexes and an eye for the ball, he has unreal ball skills for his age and is a hard player to beat at any position. Our girls Jacinta Williams and Darcy Boon are to very tough young ladies who put a 100%, every time they step on to the field. These two girls haven’t been playing that long at polocrosse. Once they mature they will be ones to watch as I would say they will give you a run for your money. That’s a little bit of information regarding our Junior’s in the club. We hope to see at least 3 of our Junior’s make the NT side for the Australian Championships which is held in Perth WA this year in late October.
